The Sovetskaya Gavan Commercial Seaport was opened by Decree # 35-P3 of the Russian government on March.17, 1993.
Port is situated at natural, deep-water Egge Bay ot Sovetskaya Gavan. Depth: down to 13 meters; length of berth line: 450 meters. A feeder line connects Port Sovetskaya Gavan via Komsomolsk-on-Amur with the Baikal-Amur and Trans-Sinberian railroads. Since 1997 on, Port Sovetskaya Gavan has been operating all the year round.
The range of goods handled is predominantly composed of timber products. Points to destination: Japan, Korea, China, and other Pacific Rim countries. Cargoes are handled by highly efficient machines and mechanismswhich allow the Port to handle up to 3 000 m3 of timber per day. At present, about 90 percent of all timber transloadedat the port pertains to the Flora JSC.
At Port Sovetskaya Gavan shippers are offered services on sorting round timber and there are areas available for individual accumulation of shipments for each exporter.
